The house of a soldier working as an instructor at a defense institute in Pune was raided on the night of Republic Day, when he and his family had gone to watch a screening of the film. A first information report (FIR) was registered at the Dapodi police station on Monday based on a complaint lodged by the 43-year-old instructor, who resides with his family in the planned accommodation on the campus of the military training centre. The robbery occurred between 6:50 p.m. and 10:40 p.m. on January 25.
“On the afternoon of January 25, the institute where the complainant works as an instructor had organized a screening of the film Border 2. The complainant attended with his family. When they returned home, they found that the lock and bolt were broken. Gold ornaments weighing more than 20 tolas (about 200 grams) were stolen from the cupboard,” a police officer said.
“After the incident, the complainant approached the Dapodi police station and an FIR was registered on January 26. We have launched an investigation. We will check the CCTV cameras in the area for clues,” the officer added.
Police have booked unidentified persons under sections 305 (burglary of habitation) and 331 (punishment for housebreaking or criminal trespass) of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.
