FC Road, JM Road, University Road and the internal routes connecting these roads in the city will remain closed to traffic and other operations on January 19 for the prologue of the Pune Grand Tour Cycle Race 2026.
Organized by Pune The district administration, in association with the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), Pune Grand Tour 2026 is the first-of-its-kind UCI 2.2 cycling race with a 437 km track, divided into four stages, from January 19 to 24.
The prologue of the Pune Grand Tour is an 8km Individual Time Trial (ITT) competition that starts from Goodluck Chowk on FC Road and ends at Deccan Bus Stand on JM Road.
A press release issued on Saturday by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav stated that FC Road, JM Road, University Road will remain closed to traffic on January 19 during the Pune Grand Tour prologue between 9 am and 6 pm. Vehicles traveling on these roads will be diverted to alternative routes, he stated.
According to the press release, the stretch between Khandoji Baba chowk and Good luck chowk via Garware bridge will be closed for traffic. Vehicles going from Swargate to Savitribai Phule Pune University and from Swargate to Khadki (in old Pune Bombay highway) will be diverted to alternative routes to reach other destinations.
The stretch from Good Luck Chowk to Lalit Mahal hotel on FC road will remain closed during the race. Traffic on this stretch will be diverted to alternative routes via Prabhat Road, Law College Road, Bhandarkar Road and Senapati Bapat Road.
The press release stated that a stretch of University Road between Chapekar Chowk and Range Hills Corner will also be closed. Therefore, vehicles heading towards Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) junction from this route will be diverted to alternative routes.

At the time of the cycle race, the road from Ranje Hills chowk to Sancheti hospital, via Shimla The office crossing will also be closed. The route from Sancheti Hospital at Deccan Bus Stand, via Balgandharva Auditorium on JM Road, will be closed for traffic.
