The PMC election became more intriguing after the Ajit Pawar-led NCP formed a pre-poll alliance with the Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP). This collaboration aims to present a strong challenge to the BJP, which has been expanding its influence in Punethe hometown of the Pawar family.

The BJP campaign, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, sought votes for city development while taking on the NCP-NCP (SP) alliance to field candidates with criminal records and to ensure free rides to citizens in the Pune metro and public transport buses.
The NCP front, led by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, criticized the BJP for failing to deliver development results during the previous terms. However, through his election manifesto, which promised a host of benefits if he came to power, he upset the leaders of the rival BJP.
On the other hand, the Congress-Shiv Sena (UBT) and the MNS took the stance that voting for the NCP is effectively voting for the BJP, as both were allies at the state and national levels.
The Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena campaign, led by Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, criticized the BJP for underestimating its party by offering too few seats in a pre-poll alliance, leading the Sena to go it alone in the polls.

Until 5:30 p.m., voting will be held to elect 165 corporations from 41 districts, four from every 40 districts and five from a single district. The counting of votes will be carried out on Friday in a decentralized manner and the results will be declared by the PMC.
