Navi Mumbai Airport, inaugurated in October 2025 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was still under construction when they needed a specialized quality metal part that was not available in the market. A call was sent to Enlight Metals, a Pune-based company, which was disrupting the steel supply chain. “We were given a schedule to deliver the material. It was challenging, but we were able to successfully procure the raw material from a factory and deliver it,” says Vedant Goel, Founder and Director, Enlight Metals.
In the financial year 2025-26, the company had delivered 75,000 tonnes of metals by the end of the third quarter. By the end of this quarter, it is targeting 1.25 lakh tonnes. There are more than 500 clients, including Tata Motors, Mahindra, Pune Metro and airports in Pune, Udaipur, Ratnagiri and Navi Bombay.
order to chaos
Most people don’t think about steel except when something goes wrong. When a subway line is delayed or the launch of a car is delayed for months. The official cause given is “lack of raw material availability,” which, in many cases, means a problem with steel. But the problem is not that there is a shortage of steel in India. The country produces enough steel. The downside is possibly reliability. The steel arrives late or is of the wrong specification or unfairly priced.
At the origin of the Enlight law, Vedant’s deep disappointment at how inefficient the industry was. He had extensive experience working in the steel sector. “If the steel is delayed, a domino effect occurs. The cost of labor increases, there is interest and deadlines are missed,” he says. His brother, Dhananjay Goel, the family’s tech brain, would listen. It was a matter of time before the two decided to work on solving the problem. Dhananjay is also the founder and director of the company.
In 2024, they created Enlight Metals, a drink either Zomato for manufacturers looking for products, such as hot and cold rolled steel coils, mild steel round bars, tubes, beams, beams, plates and channels. At that time, deliveries would take three to four days. Enlight leveraged artificial intelligence and other technologies and logistics to incorporate the concept of 24-hour delivery.
Nerves of steel
Initially, not many people thought the idea would work. Steel trade is based on personal commitments and agreements and there was uncertainty about online steel booking. The brothers persisted in overcoming skepticism: They came to work at 9 a.m. and stayed there until 3 a.m., and it paid off.
“We currently have two dark stores, in MIDC areas of Pune and Mumbai. And soon we will open 10 dark stores,” says Vedant. “Wherever we have a good industrial area, we are going to set up dark stores so that regular items can be delivered to our customers within 24 hours,” says Dhananjay. He adds that the current government is putting a lot of pressure on Digital India, which is giving them a boost.

The number of visitors to the platform, inquiries and orders is constantly increasing. In the next financial year, Enlight aims to triple its business. “From 500 manufacturers, we want to expand it to 1,500. Our plans are to start covering India very soon,” says Vedant.
