The police have notified prohibitory orders, deployment of drones at sensitive centers and a blanket ban on electronic devices as preparations are underway to coordinate with state education boards for a copy-free exam drive ahead of the Class 12 and Class 10 board exams beginning on February 10 and 20, respectively.
Pimpri Chinchwad police said they have been prepared to coordinate with the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education for fair and malpractice-free conduct of the examinations. As per the directions of the Department of Sports and School Education, Government of Maharashtra, the Class 12 board exams will be held from February 10, while the Class 10 exams will begin from February 20 across the state.
“In connection with these exams, the concerned authorities are implementing ‘No Copying Campaign’ across the state to completely prevent examination malpractices,” police said.
“Within the jurisdiction of Pimpri Chinchwad Police Station, Class 10 examinations will be conducted at 73 examination centers and Class 12 examinations at 42 examination centres. To ensure that these examinations are conducted in a copy-free, fair and impartial environment and to avoid any law and order issues, several measures have been put in place,” said a press release issued by Pimpri Chinchwad Police.
According to the statement, the entry of unauthorized people and vehicles is prohibited within a 500-meter radius of the exam centers. “Public telephones, photocopy centres, internet cafes, fax centres, STD booths, loudspeakers or any similar telecommunication facilities will be prohibited during the examination period in this area. The use of mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, pagers, internet streaming media or any similar telecommunication devices is prohibited inside the examination centres,” it said.
“On behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Pimpri Chinchwad, a prohibitory order has been issued under section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. Any person violating such prohibitory order will be punished under section 223 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Adequate police force will be deployed at all the examination centres. CCTV cameras have been installed at each examination center and surveillance will also be carried out. carried out using drone cameras, along with video recording when necessary,” the statement added.
The police further said that any person who directly instigates, aids or uses unfair means during Class 10 or Class 12 examinations, or found cheating or cooperating in such acts at the examination centres, will be prosecuted under the Maharashtra Prevention of Malpractices Act, 1982.

When contacted, deputy commissioner of police (special branch) of Pimpri Chinchwad police Pradeep Jadhav said, “The examinations have been planned and will be executed by the respective boards. We will coordinate with them to avoid malpractices and law and order issues. Drones will be deployed at sensitive centres.”
