PCMC begins cutting water lines and confiscating properties

Published on

The Property Tax Assessment and Collection Department of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has launched a massive seizure drive for property tax recovery.

In the first phase of this drive, the PCMC administration said that strict action will be taken against defaulters, and this drive will be implemented across the city from January 21, 2026.

In a review meeting held in this matter, Additional Commissioner Trupti Sandbhor and Revenue Department Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Patil gave clear instructions to all Deputy Divisional Officers to take stern action without making any concessions to the defaulters. Deputy divisional officers from all 18 divisional offices of the city were present at the meeting, according to a press release.

Zonal independent tax recovery teams have been formed and attachment orders will be issued to defaulters in the coming days. If the owners do not pay the tax even after the order is issued, physical seizure of the property will be carried out. Under this drive, water connections of residential defaulters will be disconnected, while non-residential properties will face direct attachment. PCMC has appealed to citizens to immediately pay the current financial year and outstanding taxes to avoid such harsh actions.

The PCMC has accelerated its tax collection drive, assigning responsibilities to all group leaders in the 18 divisional offices. So far, 35 properties have been seized and 133 water connections have been disconnected across the city.

List of defaulters that will be made public

The Municipal Corporation will soon publish a list of all property owners who have not yet paid their taxes. The Revenue Department clarified that no complaints or grievances will be entertained once the list is published. Defaulters are therefore urged to settle their dues immediately to avoid public listings and attachment actions.

“Property tax is a vital source of revenue for the development of Pimpri Chinchwad. It enables the city to maintain infrastructure, civic services, sanitation, water supply and education systems. Legal action will be taken against those who ignore repeated notices and reminders to pay their property tax,” said Trupti Sandbhor, additional commissioner of PCMC.

“This drive is being implemented focusing on three aspects – accurate information about defaulters, area-wise planning and scheduled compliance. Each divisional office monitors the daily progress. Defaulters can avoid disconnection of water lines and seizure by paying their taxes immediately. We urge citizens to cooperate with the Municipal Corporation by paying their taxes voluntarily,” said Pankaj Patil, Deputy Commissioner, PCMC.
