With all eyes on Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Election Results On Friday, voter turnout in the city’s 41 districts increased tension between the candidates, as less than half of voters cast their ballots in 10 of these districts.
While the general voter rotation was 52.42 per cent, the maximum turnout of 57.81 per cent was observed in Shivane-Khadakwasla-Dhayari district, which is a recent addition to the PMC’s jurisdiction. The lowest turnout of 45.12 per cent was recorded in Aundh-Bopodi district, followed by 45.54 per cent in Wanowrie-Salunke Vihar.
“This is my first election as a candidate. The low voter turnout has made me anxious, but I am confident that I will get elected,” said Sachin More, BJP candidate from Suncity-Manikbaug district.
Meanwhile, the BJP is confident of its growing strength in the central areas of the city, while the NCP is confident of a good response in the suburban areas. Pune.
