Members of the BJP’s youth wing vandalized a Bangladeshi food stall at an international food event held at MIT-WPU in Pune on Tuesday. The Kothrud police have sought information regarding the incident. University authorities said they were in the process of filing a police report.
The event was titled World Cultural Festival, with the motto “One world. Many cultures. One celebration”, and featured food stalls from several countries.
A video of the incident uploaded by Dushyant Mohol, the Pune president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, showed members of the group confronting students at the stall and security guards, shouting slogans and then vandalizing the stall.

We had already asked all the Bangladeshi students to come in, but a girl was outside and they were trying to attack them too. The attackers did not have ID cards and were not from the university. I don’t understand how they managed to get through the main gate.”
Ganesh Pokale, registrar of the Maharashtra Institute of Technology World Peace University (MIT-WPU), also said the vandals were not from the university. “They were outsiders. We are in contact with the police and in the process of filing a complaint,” he said. The Indian Express.
Senior police inspector Sandeep Deshmane said Kothrud police were aware of the incident and had contacted the university for further details.
In the caption of the video, Mohol said, “Our question to the MIT administration: Exactly who are you working for? India or anti-India forces? First Pakistan and now Bangladesh… Stop business like this immediately! If this is not stopped, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha will respond more aggressively. All universities, including MIT, must take serious note: any future such program in Pune will be destroyed!”
