Western Railway (WR) will cancel 102 suburban local train services on Tuesday due to suspension of departure and entry at Kandivali car shed and speed restrictions on up and down lines between Kandivali and Malad.
In a news release issued Monday, WR said operating restrictions will impact train movements on the rapid corridor, resulting in multiple cancellations throughout the day. Railway officials said the Kandivali car shed exit is under construction and has not yet been declared fit for operations.
The works are part of the Borivali sixth line project, after the recent commissioning of the additional line between Kandivali and Borivali. Officials said the car shed exit is expected to be operational starting Jan. 21, subject to final clearance.
WR stated that the list of affected trains is given in Annexure I of the notification and detailed information is available with suburban station masters along the western line. Travelers have been advised to take note of the changes and plan their trips accordingly.
The cancellations are likely to affect suburban traffic on the western line, particularly on the Borivali-Andheri-Churchgate belt, and passengers have been urged to take into account possible service disruptions while traveling on Tuesday.
