Third Mumbai attracts investments worth Rs one lakh crore: CM | Mumbai News

While projecting third Mumbai as the turning point in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday announced investments worth Rs one lakh crore. He also announced Raigad-Pen as the first growth center in third Mumbai. Fadnavis made these announcements on Wednesday on the sidelines of the ongoing World Economic Forum meeting in Switzerland in Davos.

On the second day of business in Davos, Fadnavis focused on exploring investments and knowledge partnership on multiple fronts, including technology.

The official note shared by the CMO said, “The strategic MoUs signed included technical cooperation agreements with the University of California, University of Berkley, Technical University of Munich, Urban Futures Collective—Londo, ICC-Italia, Norwegian Geotechnical Institute A*STAR Tuning Institute and Subana Jurong of Singapore in the field of urban planning.”

According to Fadnavis, the state is moving towards greater partnership in knowledge and technology with global players. Aside from that, his visit would also bring in large-scale industries. As an important step towards improving the infrastructure and transport sector, measures aimed at collaboration in urban planning and partnerships were initiated.

Another sector that received higher priority during the visit was health. To ensure that healthcare reaches the last man, the last mile, intense discussions on medicine and technology took place in Davos. Based on the outcome of the summit, the state has drawn up a roadmap. Maharashtra will have a medtech startup ecosystem for which the government has signed MoUs with top companies.

The Raigad-Pen growth centre, the new business district, will be located 15-20 km along the Navi Mumbai International Airport. For the last three-four years, the state government worked to get clearance from the central government. After all the clearances, the third Mumbai was officially announced with Raigad-Pen as the first city.

Based on the plug and play concept and ready to go, interested authorities and companies will start working immediately. The project will be carried out through a public-private partnership. The state government, MMRDA and private players will come together and develop the city.
