Sunetra Pawar vowed to become first female deputy CM of Maharashtra | Mumbai News

Sunetra Pawar, wife of former deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar, who He died in a plane crash in Baramati.was sworn in as the state’s first female deputy chief minister. The oath was administered by Governor Acharya Devavrat, in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde.

The ministers, legislators and NCP workers gathered at the oath-taking ceremony raised slogans like “Long live Ajit Pawar, Sunetra tai aage badho”.

The ceremony did not feature the usual festivities, applause and cheers, as the entire event, which lasted just 10 minutes, witnessed emotional moments. In the morning, NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar reported that his family had not received any invitation for the oath-taking ceremony. From the Ajit Pawar family, Sunetra’s youngest son Jay was present at the ceremony.

Earlier, Sunetra was unanimously elected as leader of the NCP Legislative Party on Saturday afternoon. A meeting of NCP Legislative Party members was held at Vidhan Bhavan in Bombay to 2 pm The meeting took place in the presence of party’s acting national president and MP Praful Patel and was chaired by Sunil Tatkare, MP and state president of the party.

During this meeting two resolutions were approved:

* Unanimously elect Sunetra as leader of the state legislative party.

* Authorize Sunetra to make all decisions regarding the PNC legislative party.

These resolutions were moved by Chhagan Bhujbal and supported by Hasan Mushrif, Dilip Walse Patil, Dhananjay Munde, Narhari Zirwal and Sanjay Bansode.

Later, Tatkare sent a letter to Fadnavis conveying the unanimous selection of Sunetra as leader of the legislative party. Subsequently, the prime minister informed the state governor of Sunetra’s incorporation into the council of ministers.
