More than 13 lakh students to appear for Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exam in maharashtra starting Tuesday, and the state board will implement strict measures to prevent copying.

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education said that most of the examination halls across the state are now covered by CCTV cameras. The exams will be held in 3,387 centers using 61,484 classrooms, and more than 85% of these classrooms have CCTV surveillance.

“In the remaining exam centres, we have arranged staff changes to ensure strict monitoring during the exam,” said Nandkumar Bedse, working president of the Maharashtra State Board.

The board has also identified exam centers where cheating is most likely and has deployed special inspection teams to monitor. Schools acting as examination centers have been warned that strict action will be taken if any malpractice is discovered.

“Schools operating as testing centers have been warned that if any copies are found on their premises, their approval to operate as testing centers will be revoked from the next academic year,” Bedse said.

Students have been asked to reach their exam centers on time as late entry will not be allowed. Candidates must be seated at least 30 minutes before the exam begins. The board has continued last year’s practice of not handing out questionnaires early. Instead, students will have an additional 10 minutes at the end to read the article.

To help students cope with exam stress, the board has set up helplines with career counsellors. The divisional offices have also shared contact details of teachers to help students with queries. The board has advised students to only follow their official social media pages to get updates and avoid online rumours.
