Man poses as railway surveillance inspector and deceived employee, hero | Mumbai News

The vigilance team of the Central Railway on Thursday arrested a man who allegedly posed as a vigilance inspector of the Railway Board and took money from a railway employee by promising him transfers and clearance of arrears, officials said.

The accused, identified as Harish Kamble, was arrested during a sting operation at Kalyan railway station on January 22 while allegedly accepting Rs 20,000 from the complainant.

Central Railway Director Public Relations Dr Swapnil Nila said the accused posed as a railway board vigilance inspector and demanded Rs 20,000 from the complainant to clear the DRM Office’s arrears. Bombay.

According to Central Railway, Kamble had previously taken Rs 60,000 from the complainant through an online transfer, claiming it would facilitate a job transfer. However, the transfer did not materialize. The accused subsequently contacted the employee again and offered to expedite the disbursement of the outstanding arrears from the office of the Divisional Railway Manager in Mumbai in exchange for another payment.

Suspecting fraud, the complainant went to the surveillance service, after which an operation was planned to verify the accusations.

During the trap, surveillance officials caught Kamble allegedly accepting the bribe amount and handed him over to the Government Railway Police (GRP), Kalyan, for further proceedings.

An FIR has been registered under Sections 318(2) and 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with cheating and impersonation.
