CM in Davos | Maharashtra govt committed to India’s economic growth: Fadnavis | Mumbai News

The Maharashtra government is committed to India’s economic development and growth, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who landed in Zurich on Sunday. The CM is on a five-day visit to Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.

Fadnavis received a traditional welcome from Brihan Maharashtra Mandal, Switzerland, an association of people with roots in Maharashtra.

“I am deeply moved by the warmth and affection of the Brihan Maharashtra Mandal, Switzerland. The ‘Paramparik vesh, Paddhati, Parampara’ and Wari performance beautifully showcased our rich cultural heritage, bringing the true essence of Maharashtra to Zurich,” the CM said.

At the event, Amol Savarkar, coordinator of the International Marathi Forum, announced that thanks to the efforts of the Forum, Marathi language classes have been started in several schools in Switzerland.

Fadnavis said it was a moment of joy and honor for Maharashtra and the Marathi language, adding that the Forum’s work was helping to preserve the language and promote its use globally.

Speaking about the role of the Marathi diaspora, Fadnavis said, “Marathi communities around the world are doing transformative work. To connect, celebrate and amplify these efforts, ‘Maha-NRI Connect’ is being created, uniting Marathi people across the world through Swadesh, Swadharma and Swabhasha, and opening new avenues of prosperity.”

The Chief Minister also said that Marathi was given the status of classical language ‘Abhijaat Bhasha’ with the support of the Center under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Reiterating your government’s commitment to development Bombay As a global city, Fadnavis said, “Maharashtra continues to lead development, contributing significantly to India’s growth and towards a trillion-dollar economy.”
