Shivaji Nagar police have arrested four people in connection with the murder of a 19-year-old woman who was allegedly shot dead in Govandi on Tuesday.
The arrested accused were identified as Tabassum Shaikh, his brother Shajid Shaikh, Kalam Chaudhary and Nadeem Shaikh.
All the accused are residents of Govandi area. They were produced in court on Wednesday and remanded in police custody till February 18 for further investigation.
According to police, the deceased, Shifa Shaikh, 19, lives in Shivaji Nagar area of Govandi along with her parents and studied up to 10th standard.
His father is in the construction business. The incident took place in Furqania Masjid area of Shivaji Nagar on Tuesday when Shaikh left her residence after she was called to meet Tabassum near his residence.
During the investigation, police learned that Tabassum was allegedly in a relationship with Nadeem. For the past few months, Nadeem was also allegedly in a relationship with Shifa Shaikh.
Shaikh and Tabassum had an argument over an issue after which Tabassum is believed to have allegedly shot him at point-blank range on his cheek and the bullet got stuck in his skull due to which he died, a senior officer said.

At the time of the incident, Kalam and Shajid were present there and the duo allegedly helped the suspect move the body a little away from the crime scene, the official added.
The victim’s family was informed about the incident and she was rushed to the nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead. His body was sent to JJ Hospital for post-mortem examination. The Shivaji Nagar police station registered a case of murder in the matter and launched an investigation.
The police have been interrogating the accused to find out where she got the gun. Further investigations are underway, the official added.
