Yash-starrer Toxic controversy resurfaces a month before release; FIR against manufacturers for felling trees in the forest | Regional news

Toxic, starring Yash, is about to release on March 19, but the film has gone through many ups and downs during its making. Recently, a controversy related to the 2024 film resurfaced on Reddit, when a FIR was filed against the manufacturers, KVN Productions. The Karnataka Forest Department had lodged an FIR against the farmers for allegedly felling trees to create an estate on forest land in Bengaluru.

The FIR was lodged against the General Manager of Canara Bank and the General Manager of Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT), according to ANI. At that time, India Today shared a report showing satellite images of forest land where a significant difference in greenery can be seen in the before and after images.

At the time, Karnataka Environment Minister Eshwar Khandre directed officials to take action against those responsible for felling trees on forest land, which had allegedly been occupied by the HMT. In a chat with ANI, Eshwar had shared, “I personally visited the country where the film Toxic is being shot…Hundreds of trees have been illegally felled for the film’s shoot on forest land under the jurisdiction of HMT, which is visible in satellite images…We will take necessary action against people who violated the rules. Cutting trees on forest land without legal permission is a punishable offence.”

The makers of Toxic released a teaser of their film on YouTube a few weeks ago, which created quite a stir when the women’s wing of the state Aam Aadmi Party lodged a formal complaint with the Karnataka State Women’s Commission. Later, Prasoon Joshi, president of CBFC, In a chat with India Today, he shared that since the advance was a digital asset, it did not go through CBFC.

The film, directed by Geetu Mohandas, will release on March 19, clashing with Dhurandhar The Revenge. The first part of the Ramveer Singh starrer released in December and grossed Rs 1.3 crore worldwide. Toxic marks Yash’s return to the big screen after the KGF films. Later this year, he will also be seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, where he plays Ravana. The film also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in ​​important roles.
