Music composer and singer Vishal Dadlani does not mince words in pointing out flaws in the system, be it in the governance of the city and the country or even in the film industry and the Hindi music ecosystem. He recently took to social media to warn budding singers not to approach him to collaborate with them through political power.

“Some advice for new singers. Don’t get anyone. mantri ji or his secretary to call me. That’s a guaranteed way to NEVER meet me. I have no respect for people who try to make their way through ‘contacts,'” he wrote in an Instagram post. “To the guy who just tried, mantri-ji is now blocked, and so are you. Now, even if you are a great singer, I have no interest in working with you. “I’m sorry,” he added.

Along with this note, vishal wrote in the caption: ‘Please have faith in your talent, be prepared to work hard and be patient. If you are good, your time will come. Don’t do that’sifaarish‘stuff. It’s a boring cliché and, more than anything, it just shows that you’re someone who doesn’t believe their talent is enough.”

Popular rapper Hanumankind, who recently collaborated with vishal for a beverage brand’s new anthem, also supported Vishal’s petition by commenting crown emojis on his post. However, hours later, Vishal returned to his Instagram account and shared a video of himself, where he seemed calmer and more positive, and rather vaguely but optimistically spoke about an initiative he is taking to find new musical talent.

“Tomorrow I am going to announce something special. I will not announce, first we will have tests. Basically, I want to see if the concept that I have in mind, which I am very passionate about, works or not. Do people really want to listen to original music or do they just want to follow the processed recommendations sent to them by streaming platforms and TV channels? I hope that is not the case. I hope that a raw, artist-led approach will still connect with people,” Vishal said.

Vishal then announced that he wants aspiring singers to perform live in front of him and a live audience as part of the tests. He asked those interested not to send him their songs directly, but to wait for the opportunity to perform his original songs in the flesh. While he plans to extend this initiative to all states, cities, genders, ages and languages, and to all genders, he plans to start where he lives, Bombay.

Vishal then explained some details of the initiative. You will share an email ID, in which prospective artists can submit their music, ideally performed live in front of an audience. From those videos, he will choose five to seven artists to perform in front of him and the audience on the first day. It will also share a ticketing link with those who want to attend as an audience with a capacity of 150 to 200 for each show.

“I don’t even have a name for this. You, the audience, will come up with this. You will be involved in the process from the beginning, from what it’s called to who are the artists you want to listen to,” Vishal said. “There is no politics or religion in this. You can sign with any label or not. I crave raw, crazy and original music. What is happening around the world with AI is really disconcerting,” Vishal added.

The composer-singer is expected to share more details about the initiative today, February 10.
