Alia Bhatt has previously spoken at length about how her husband, actor Ranbir Kapoor, has He underwent a profound transformation since the birth of his daughter, Raha. Now, Ranbir himself has opened up about fatherhood and reflects on how his approach differs from the parenting style of his father, Rishi Kapoor, and previous generations. He shared his thoughts on the occasion of being announced as the new ambassador for a legacy jewelry brand.
In a video shared on YouTube channel Ranbir Kapoor Kingdom, he said: “My father’s relationship with me had a bit of distance; it wasn’t like a friendship, because that was what that generation was like; there was a glass wall. But now, unlike my daughter, I want to break that glass wall. I want to be her friend, give her wings to fly in the direction she wants.”
Ranbir also reflected on living up to Kapoor’s legacy and forging his own path: “Once you know that you come from a family of achievers, the next generation does not succeed on past laurels. You have to take an individualistic approach, your own thought process, bringing something new. If you are doing the same copy-and-paste thing that your ancestors did, somewhere there will be a saturation point. So I think it’s the intention: you have to really carry a feeling, a feeling of legacy and excitement forward. If you have that in the true sense, then nothing can stop you.”

Alia also recently shared how parenthood has revealed a more vulnerable side of Ranbir. Speaking to Esquire India, he said: “He’s a lot more sensitive than he lets on. He’s shy, so he holds back a lot. But with her, he’s incredibly expressive. His eyes, his face, everything lights up. He almost turns into a child.” She recalls that Raha’s birth was marked by exhaustion and vulnerability, and points out that Ranbir had been absent from work for a month even before his daughter arrived to help her at home.
Alia further highlighted Ranbir’s eagerness to spend time with his daughter: “He would go to film and literally run home. He would run straight to the room to see her. His love is so obvious. He can’t help it.”
On the professional front, both Alia and Ranbir will share the screen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War, which also stars Vicky Kaushal. Ranbir is gearing up for the release of Ramayana Part 1 and will soon start shooting for Animal Park.
