Parmeet Sethi called Archana Puran Singh crying and said business was over

Parmeet Sethi and Archana Puran Singh continue to be one of the most loved celebrity couples, thanks to their unfiltered YouTube vlogs and refreshingly relatable content. As part of their channel, the duo recently launched a new series titled Pyaar Dosti Hai, where they speak candidly about their marriage, insecurities, personal struggles and the journey of growing together as he navigates money, careers, and life’s many ups and downs. During one of the episodes, the couple recalled how they met and how strikingly different they were from each other.

Archana revealed that Parmeet barely smiled when she met him. Sharing the reason behind this, Parmeet said, “My sister passed away in a car accident. She was depressed. I hadn’t smiled for an entire year; laughing was something far away. When I met you, I was just starting to come out of that phase.”

Archana acknowledged the timeline and added, “I know, I met you a year after that.” Despite a seven-year age difference, the couple secretly married. At that time, Archana was already an established face in the industry, while Parmeet was still struggling to find his place.

Parmeet’s business went bankrupt

Parmeet also recalled his business that disappeared overnight and Archana brought him success at different times. “I had started a garment export business and received some good orders from Europe. I set up the factory in Bengaluruand everything was going well, but suddenly all orders were cancelled. All the big brands suffered and everything fell apart for me. I remember calling you from an STD booth and I was crying. All my business was finished and I asked you, ‘Mai kya karu (What should I do)’? You just said, ‘Come back.’ “You gave me support that not many people would have given,” he said, thanking his wife.

Reflecting on that phase, Archana said, “In my head, I never thought, ‘He’s not winning.’ I always thought, ‘I’m winning, what’s the difference?’ I have lived like a boy. “I have rebelled against all forms of patriarchy.” Parmeet responded with gratitude and said, “That is your greatness. You married me when I was a real fighter.”

Archana starts to resent Parmeet not winning.

However, Archana admitted that being the sole breadwinner in the family in the early years sometimes created friction, especially when Parmeet was too generous in spending her money. “I had to pay the bills and he always demanded to go to expensive restaurants. I thought he should be the provider.” Although he had not admitted it then, Parmeet now confessed: “Not coming from a rich background, I was hungry for good things; I wanted a better life.”

Parmeet didn’t have a single toy when he was a child.

Archana, getting emotional, said, “Every time you tell me this story, I cry. You told me that you never had a toy when you were a child.”

Sharing his reality, Parmeet recalled, “This was my life. We always had financial problems. My father married my sister after taking loans. He took loans to buy a house and a vehicle. I never had money for pocket expenses. I studied in a rich school where children from rich families bought soft drinks and sausages every day. I hardly had any money; I could manage a vada pav from time to time.”

He added: “My father was a simple man. He was not interested in money in terms of investments. I think my hunger to build a better life came from this. Unless you are broken, you will not become something in life. I firmly believe that.”

Archana, on the other hand, came from a comfortable financial background but faced her own emotional struggles. Recalling her early days, she shared, “I came here when I was broken. I was only 19 and had gone through a very bad breakup. I felt like it was all over. At some point I felt like I had let my parents down. There was a lot of patriarchy where I came from, so I had this drive to be as good as a son, as good as my father, who was a high achiever. I wanted to prove myself to my parents. I toughened myself up.”

Parmeet Sethi and Archana Puran Singh finally got married in 1992.
