Mouni Roy She recently took to Instagram to talk about an incident she was in. harassed by elderly family men at a recent event in Karnal, Haryana, where he had gone to perform. Mouni alleged that some elderly men touched her inappropriately on the pretext of taking photographs and made lewd comments and hand gestures.
She wrote, “Last time I had an event in Karnal and I am disgusted with the behavior of the guests, especially two uncles who are old enough to be grandparents. When the event started and they were walking towards the stage, the uncles and family members (all men) put their hands on my waist to click pictures. I didn’t like it when I said ‘sir, remove your hand’. On the stage it is an even better story. Two uncles stood right in front making lewd comments showing gestures at me lewd hands, insults. I realized this and first I made a polite gesture to them not to do it and they started throwing roses at me. It was when in the middle of the performance I walked towards the exit of the stage, but I immediately returned to finish my performance.
Traumatized by the incident, Mouni further wrote, “They did not stop even after that and no family or organizers moved them from the front. If someone like me has to go through this, I can only imagine what it must be like for the new girls who start working and doing shows. I am humiliated, traumatized and I want the authorities to take action for this intolerable behavior. We are artists trying to earn an honest living through our craft. I wonder what these men would do if their friends behaved like this. the same way with your daughters, sisters or any family. The members make you ashamed!

Mouni also alleged that the elders made videos from a low angle while she was performing on stage. “I should also mention that the stage was at a height and these guys were making low angle videos. When someone asked them to stop, they abused them. I love my country, our people, our traditions, but this? The guts. The right to be men.”
She concluded her post by writing, “I never mention anything negative about what I’m going through. But this. I have no words. I don’t have any expression or abuse that makes any sense for this behavior. We as actors go to these events to wish the bride and groom to join their celebration. We are their guests and they harass us like this. Yuk.”
