Three years after surprising everyone with the inaugural season of the slow-burn thriller show Kohrracreator Sudip Sharma is back with season 2. Thus set in Punjab, but dealing with a new murder case in another area, season 2 marks the return of Barun Sobti as Deputy Sub-Inspector Amarpal Garundi. However, this time he will not report to Suvinder Vicky sub-inspector Balbir Singh.
Mona Singh as Dhanwant Kaur becomes the new commanding officer of Garundi as she leaves Jagrana behind and takes charge of the Dalerpura police station. “As different as they may seem, they both share the same passion for getting involved in a case, even when the walls they have built to escape their past crumble before their eyes,” the official tagline states.
Netflix India on Thursday released the trailer for Kohrra season 2, which begins with Mona and Barun’s characters inspecting the murder site. Preet, a young girl, has been brutally murdered by inserting a sharp agricultural tool into her stomach and spine. The trick? There are footprints marked with blood that are seen entering the house, but not leaving it.
Upon further investigation, the police discover Preet’s turbulent personal life. He has two children, but they live with his father (played by Rannvijay Singh) in the United States. He tells the police that she was having an affair with a dancer, who was dating another dancer at the same time. “Women are always complicated,” Garundi says in Punjabi, only for her boss to respond: “Men are no less either.”
The case snowballs into several other crimes as Mona and Barun’s characters struggle to keep up while also struggling in their personal lives. His wife left him and returned to his parents’ house. “At least you know where he is,” says Kaur, since her husband has been missing for four days. She has even been seen vomiting in despair and approaching her superior saying, “I have been working for 16 hours. How else can I demonstrate my dedication?”
Kohrra Season 2 is created and written by Gunjit Chopra, Diggi Sisodia and Sudip Sharma. It is produced by A Film Squad Production in association with Act Three.
