The legal crisis that has surrounded actor-comedian Rajpal Yadav’s life for more than a decade appears to be far from over. Last week, The actor surrendered before the Tihar jail authorities after the Delhi High Court refused to extend the deadline related to his conviction in check bounce cases. However, before giving up, Rajpal made an emotional comment that reflected the deep sense of isolation he has experienced throughout this protracted legal battle.

According to NewsX, the actor was visibly emotional when he said: “Sir, kya karoon? Mere paas paise nahin hain. Aur koi upaay nahin dikhta. Sir, yahan hum sab akele hain. There are no friends. I have to face this crisis alone.” (Lord, what should I do? I don’t have the money. I don’t see any other option. Lord, we are alone here.)

Last week, SCREEN also contacted Rajpal Yadav’s manager Goldie to ask if the actor was receiving any support from the industry during this difficult period. Answering the question, he said: “I don’t think so.”

For those who don’t know, the case dates back to 2010, when Rajpal Yadav took a loan of Rs 5 crore from Murali Projects Pvt Ltd to finance his directorial debut, Ata Pata Laapata. The film’s box office failure led to payment difficulties, leading to multiple check defaults. In April 2018, a trial court convicted Yadav and his wife under the Negotiable Instruments Act and sent them to six months in prison. Despite filing appeals, the actor’s legal problems persisted for years as the outstanding amount continued to grow, eventually reaching almost Rs 9 million.

On the work front, Rajpal Yadav was last seen in films like Baby John and Interrogation. He will next be seen in Akshay Kumar’s horror comedy Bhoot Bangla, which is scheduled to release on April 10.
