Rapper Hanumankind is the latest celebrity to comment Arijit Singh’s decision to step away from playback singing. Highlighting the importance of mental well-being, the rapper said that the singer’s choice deserves respect. He also talked about the greatness of creative burnout.
In a conversation with Times Of India, Hanumankind said, “Aijit comes from a different space. The man took the decision himself. He deserves respect because he has a weight in his work and he is the only one who carries it. What happens in the industry is secondary to his well-being.”
“Take a step back,” says Hanumankind
The rapper, who is riding high on his recent successes, spoke candidly about burnout and the dangers of glorifying relentless hustle.
“Don’t focus on the music for too long. If you turn on too much, it can consume you. Take a step back. Too much of a good thing can turn into a bad thing,” he said, emphasizing that creativity thrives only when artists give themselves space.
Hanumankind also urged creators to recognize stress early and prioritize space to mentally breathe, while cautioning against judging artists who choose to step away from the spotlight.

Shortly after, posts believed to come from Arijit’s personal X account sheds light on his reasons. The 38-year-old singer clarified that his decision was not impulsive nor was it based on a single fact. Rather, it was the result of long reflection and multiple factors.
“One of the reasons is simple: I get bored pretty quickly, so I keep changing the arrangements of the same songs and performing them on stage. So here’s the thing, I got bored. I need to make other music for a living,” he shared. Arijit also expressed his desire to accommodate emerging voices in the industry, hoping to be inspired by new talent.
What’s next for Arijit?
Despite stopping singing on playback, Arijit Singh assured his fans that music will remain central to his life. He revealed plans to focus on creating his own compositions and return to Indian classical music when the time is right.
