After wreaking havoc at the box office, Aditya Dhar’s massive action hit Dhurandhar arrived on Netflix on Friday. after a surprising run in cinemas of around two months. The film’s theatrical release speaks for itself: it has become the highest-grossing Hindi film ever at the domestic box office, earning approximately Rs 890.67 crore, and is currently the fourth highest-grossing Indian film globally, with collections around Rs 1,428 crore. The movie is now on Netflix, but fans were in for a big surprise when they discovered that the Netflix version of the movie is significantly shorter than the theatrical version.
9 minutes cut from Dhurandhar on Netflix
While some fans celebrated the film’s OTT release, many netizens on X were quick to point out that the film was 9 minutes shorter here. This development has come as a surprise, considering that Dhurandhar was touted as the longest Hindi film released after Ashutosh Gowariker’s Jodhaa Akbar, with a theatrical run time of 3 hours and 34 minutes. On Netflix, including the post-credits scene, the film is now 3 hours and 25 minutes long, prompting complaints that nearly nine minutes have been removed.

A fan reacted similarly and flooded social media. So far, there has been no official comment from the production company, streaming platform or Dhar on the reported cuts.
That said, it can be assumed that certain edits were made considering the global digital release of the film as it is now accessible in regions like Pakistan and the Gulf countries, where the Ranveer Singh-led starrer had previously been banned from theatrical release. Cuts could potentially be related to compliance with international broadcast standards and regional sensitivities.

Dhurandhar is conceived as a two-part gangster saga directed by Dhar. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt and R Madhavan. While the first part immerses viewers in the underbelly of Karachi’s violence and its gang wars, the second installment, scheduled for release on Eid 2026, is expected to shift the focus towards Ranveer Singh’s character and India’s retaliation against Pakistan for carrying out and sponsoring terrorism-related activities.
