Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh and starring Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahaan Shetty and sunny deol in important roles, has been well received at the box office. The film has grossed over Rs 175 crore at the Indian box office in just four days. In light of the film’s success, Anurag Singh has stated that those who trolled Varun earlier should now apologize to him.

Talking about trolling in Border 2, Anurag told HT, “I think this has become a default thing on social media, and for us as people, that negativity is tracked more. Jisko aur kuch nahi bolna wo sochta hai negative bol deta hoon, social media pe likes aa jayenge. In the field we are in, we are more open to criticism than others as we are always in the limelight, especially actors. There is more scrutiny and conversations Around that, people write negative things, say bad things and get traction and followers. I don’t know when this change happened, but saying good things became more difficult and saying bad things became easier.

On Varun Dhawan being trolled by Border 2

Notably, talking about Varun Dhawan facing backlash ahead of the release of Border 2, Anurag Singh said that trolls owe him an apology. “If people send apology letters, then it’s good. If you criticize something and do it unnecessarily, once you like it, you have to apologize and admit that it was wrong. Actors put themselves out there. They come in front of the camera and do 50 things, out of which 10 people may not like it, which is fine. You can’t please one person always. But when it becomes personal, it affects a person,” Anurag said.

He added, “Whoever faces that attack directly is affected. People do negativity because it gives them more views, which is why this trend is on social media. But I am happy that this has left our film because ab kaam bol raha hai (now work is talking).”

Border 2 was released in theaters on January 23, 2026. The film collected Rs 30 million on the day of its release, followed by Rs 36.5 million on the second day. On Sunday, it earned Rs 54.5 crore and by late afternoon on Republic Day, the film had grossed over Rs 53 crore in India.
