Claiming to become best sellers on any platform they partner with, the founders got to work asking for an investment of Rs 90 lakhs in exchange for 2 per cent equity, putting the valuation at Rs 45 crore. Sharing her story further, Renu said that her late husband was a chemical engineer; Their factory closed in 1998. They started their own business and launched a washing powder in 2000. They revealed how people made reviews praising the project; They have 35,000 reviews and a rating of 4.1, and were also awarded as a best seller by Amazon last year. While Anupam said, “Aapne papa ka sapna sach mein poor kar diya,” Aman pointed out flaws in the packaging, “Badi hi fuddu packaging hai.”

Anupam Mittal says: ‘You can kill him’

Shortly after the founders share their sales data, Aman makes the first offer. He says, “I like your team, I will make you an offer. Rs 90 lakh for 5 percent.” Anupam says, “Mera offer le gaye” and adds, “You guys are very kind and the product needs a lot of work in terms of branding and packaging. Until you form a Rs 100 crore company, you should not consider offline sales or launching detergents. You can kill Q-commerce and e-commerce.” It offers an offer of Rs 1 crore for 5 per cent equity, which pales into the valuation at Rs 20 crore.

Mohit Yadav also made the same offer and added, “Kitchen cleaner is your flagship product; you should just focus on that. It has huge potential.” Kunal Bahl chose not to participate in the negotiations, stating that he did not see it as a brand. He said: “Many founders don’t realize that getting into fast commerce has now become 10 times more difficult. At the stage this business is at right now, you will have made incredible progress, but it seems to me like a product, rather than a brand. I’m not clear what the journey from product to brand will be like, so I’ll say goodbye for today.” Namita also opted out, stating that the founders had already received three offers.

Later, when the founders negotiated and demanded that Mohit, Anupam and Aman join in exchange for 3 per cent equity, Mohit Yadav backed out of the deal. Finally, Anupam and Aman made a combined offer of Rs 2 crore for 10 per cent equity. Aman said, “The offer we made was fair, because there is a lot of work that these need, so we will give you Rs 2 million for 10 percent.” Anupam added, “This product needs to become a brand and needs the right distribution strategy to scale.”

After they refused to negotiate further, the founders closed the deal at a valuation of Rs 20 crore, giving Aman and Anupam 10 shares.
