Global Economic Cooperation Summit 2026 to be held in Mumbai next month | Mumbai News

Senior policymakers, global business leaders, investors and heads of multilateral institutions from India and abroad will gather in Mumbai from February 17 to 19 for the inauguration of the Global Economic Cooperation GEC 2026.

The summit is convened by the Future Economic Cooperation Council FECC, a non-profit platform, in association with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and Government of Maharashtra.

According to organizers, the forum aims to examine how economic diplomacy, investment partnerships and capital flows must adapt in an increasingly multipolar world marked by geopolitical shifts and economic uncertainty.

The governing body of the FECC includes the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Devendra Fadnavis as Chief Patron, Vijay Chauthaiwale, Foreign Affairs Officer of the Bharatiya Janata Party, as Director, and Priyam Gandhi Mody, Founder of the Vishwamitra Research Foundation, as Director and Curator.

The three-day summit will feature high-level plenary sessions and closed-door discussions on areas such as infrastructure financing, advanced manufacturing, technology systems, energy transition and resilient supply chains. Other areas of focus include economic corridors, digital connectivity, ESG frameworks and the governance of emerging technologies, which organizers say are increasingly linked to economic sovereignty and global stability.

Speaking on the vision behind the forum, Priyam Gandhi Mody, Director of the Future Economic Cooperation Council, said: “The global economy is entering a decisive decade in which economies need to protect themselves against the threats of fragmentation, protectionism and uncertainty. Through Global Economic Cooperation 2026, India is taking a step forward to convene governments, investors and industry leaders to design practical pathways for cooperation in capital, infrastructure, technology and energy. that reflect the realities of a multipolar world and our shared responsibility for global prosperity.

Vijay Chauthaiwale, Foreign Affairs Officer of the Bharatiya Janata Party, said: “Under the able leadership of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India has built enduring partnerships with global leaders that have stood the test of time in an increasingly multipolar world. Today, economic engagement is inseparable from geopolitics. At a time like this, we are hosting GEC 2026, which further underlines India’s commitment to shaping a cooperative, rules-based economy. that promote the national interest and at the same time strengthen global stability.”

On the final day of the summit, organizers will launch the Emerging Leaders Circle, a platform aimed at engaging young business professionals and future leaders through panel discussions on innovation and global economic change. The initiative will be carried out in collaboration with academic institutions, including the Indian Institutes of Management and Columbia University.

Organizers said the Global Economic Cooperation forum is envisioned as an annual event that will bring together ministerial leaders, sovereign and institutional investors and CEOs from sectors such as infrastructure, logistics, ports, clean energy, artificial intelligence, financial technology and advanced manufacturing. The inaugural edition is expected to lay the foundation for new approaches to global economic cooperation.
