Thalapathy Vijay, Jana Nayagan Movie Release Date Madras High Court Verdict Live Updates: After being stuck in limbo for weeks, with its release postponed indefinitely, director H Vinoth’s Vijay stars in Jana Nayagan will finally get clarity on its much-awaited release date as the Madras High Court will pronounce its verdict in the case on Tuesday, January 27. One of the most anticipated films of the year, particularly as it marks Vijay’s swan song ahead of his full-fledged political entry, Jana Nayagan was supposed to hit the screens on January 9, coinciding with Pongal, but was postponed after it failed to get clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Since then, the political action drama has been stuck in the courts with no respite in sight.
Although a division bench of the High Court, comprising Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava and Justice G Arul Murugan, listened to the matter in detail Last Tuesday, January 20, he refrained from passing sentence immediately. Year the hearing in an appeal filed by the CBFC challenging a single judge order directing it to grant U/A 16+ certificate to the film, the court reserved its order, further delaying Jana Nayagan’s release. The Madras High Court is likely to fully resolve the matter on Tuesday and issue a final verdict.

However, the possibility of a further postponement cannot be ruled out as a CBFC review committee member who watched the film lodged a complaint against Jana Nayagan, which subsequently led to the film being sent to a CBFC review committee. During the hearing on January 20, Additional Solicitor General (ASG) ARL Sunderesan, appearing for the CBFC, informed the division bench that the complaint also pertained to religious harmony and armed forces and therefore experts may need to be invited to watch the film.
Meanwhile, senior advocate Satish Parasaran, appearing for the producer, refuted the CBFC’s arguments, stating that the Jana Nayagan team proceeded with the release plans based on a communication received from the Chennai Regional Officer on December 22, who reported that the examining commission had recommended the issuance of a censure certificate. Seeking relief, Parasaran informed the court that the producer had invested Rs 500 crore in the film.
Also starring Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani and Narain in key roles, Jana Nayagan is bankrolled by KVN Productions. On Monday, January 26, noted filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj confirmed that he will appear in a cameo in the film. Jana Nayagan features music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan and editing by Pradeep E Ragav.
