Ratna Pathak Shah does not approve of the extensive entourage system that is a key part of today’s Hindi film industry. While she understands that security for young actors and a single contact person to organize their day is essential, the actress cannot understand the costs that come with a massive entourage and the impact they have not only on the producer, but also on the actor and their instincts.
“I think it’s a waste of time from what I can see. But you can see it as if he is managing many households. The entourage gets paid. The producer keeps crying. And if the film doesn’t work, he cries even more. But he keeps hoping that his film will earn Rs 1,000 crore this time, so even he stays silent,” Ratna shared with Pinkvilla.
“It’s a self-feeding system that we’ve created. Once it swells beyond a certain point, that bubble will burst. We’ll have to wait until then, I guess, because it seems like people don’t want to make decisions individually right now,” she said, adding, “I can’t even decide what I want to wear. Someone else is buying and accessorizing me. I don’t want this infantilization of myself. I’ve lived 68 years. I don’t want to become a girl.” again “That already happened,” Ratna added.
He confessed that he does not know how the huge entourage helps an actor’s work. And at the same time, he also denounced the incompetence shown by some members of the crew on set, including the wardrobe department. “They paid much more than today than what the poor wear given got. And that’s why I get very angry. “Why don’t you give it your all?” he said, adding: “But, frankly, it’s not my business to change their way of thinking. So I keep my mouth shut. And I have learned that too. And I also learned how it benefits someone? Some people understand it. Most don’t. For those who don’t, life will teach them little by little and surely. Why should I do all that hard work?
Entourage costs are in the headlines recently as a brand manager claimed that Pushpa superstar Allu Arjun has a huge entourage that enforces 42 rules to interact with him.including a list of dos and don’ts. These include not making eye contact with him and maintaining an arm’s length away. He even alleged that his security snatched his phone once Arjun entered the room.
Now, Arjun’s team has dismissed these claims. “Certain recent comments about Mr. Allu Arjun are completely baseless and false. He has always conducted himself with utmost dignity and honour. We take these false allegations seriously. Our legal team is initiating defamation proceedings against those responsible. We request everyone to refrain from spreading unverified information,” the statement read.
