Friends who were traveling in triple on a bicycle collide with a truck, one dies, FIR against another | Mumbai News

Three friends who were riding as passengers on a scooter at high speed, and allegedly on the wrong side of the road in Ghatkopar, collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction, resulting in the death of a young man on the bike last week.

Based on investigation, Ghatkopar police on Wednesday registered an FIR against the deceased’s friend who was riding a bike. The two friends also suffered minor injuries.

An officer said the incident took place around 10 pm on January 28, when three friends, Nitin Patwa, Manthan Bhalerao and Chetan Sharma, all Ghatkopar residents in their twenties, were killed. traveling by bicycle on Andheri-Ghatkopar Link Road, near Shreyas Cinema.

Ghatkopar police station senior inspector Satish Jadhav said the trio was speeding on the wrong side of the road when they collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction. The impact of the collision was such that the three were thrown from the motorcycle onto the road.

Manthan Bhalerao, who was sitting among his friends on the bike, felt the impact and was thrown far away. Truck driver K Kamble called the police control room and informed them about the accident.
Kamble told police he saw the scooter coming at high speed from the wrong side and tried to slow down, but the scooter crashed into his truck before he could do anything.

Manthan was rushed to a local hospital by his two friends, who also suffered minor injuries. As his injuries were serious, he was brought in later. to KEM hospital. However, on Wednesday he died from his injuries.

Senior Inspector Jadhav said his investigation indicated that it was not the fault of the truck driver as he was on the right path and had also immediately contacted the police control room soon after the accident.

“An FIR has been registered against scooter driver Patwa as he was traveling on a triple seat and was driving at high speed on the wrong side of the road. He was issued a notice to join the investigation at a later date and was allowed to leave,” Jadhav said.
